In assembling the information on the Goodyear Christmas records, I came across a lot more bits of info than I ever knew, so I’m using this as a spot to note all the “oddball stuff”. What kinda stuff? Well, for example…..
- International! I don't have a complete list by a long shot, but thanks to foreign editions of eBay, here are examples of Goodyear Christmas albums sold in England and Australia.
- eBay was also the place where I discovered this 2-record deluxe edition release. The cover is modified from Album Eight, but the contents have been selected from prior albums.
- Starting with Album Four in 1964, buyers had the option of ordering prior album releases by mail, using an order envelope included with the record. The option to purchase prior albums ceased after the 1971 album.
- Yes, Virginia, there were 8-track editions of The Best of The Great Songs of Christmas and the 1977 Perry Como/Eugene Ormandy edition.
- How about this? A Goodyear Christmas record that precedes the Great Songs album series! I have no idea on the year this came out, but it may be the rarest item in this virtual collection.
- When is a Goodyear Christmas album not a Goodyear Christmas album? Some copies of the first album did not list Goodyear on the album cover, although it did say "Created Exclusively"; and some copies of Albums Two and Three had the Goodyear reference blotted out on the cover. Can you solve the mystery?
- Advertising was certainly part of the package. Here are print ads for Album Four and Album Six.
- And thanks to YouTube, here are TV ads for the ninth and eleventh albums:
