Pokemon Gold and Silver

Review:

Well, the graphics in boths games are much improved since the Red/Blue versions. There are now 251 Pokemon to capture and twice the areas where you can go.

There are new evolutions of old Pokemon, like Onix, and de-evolutions of some Pokemon like Clefairy and Magmar. The Pokemon to the right of this text is Pichu, is a
de-evolution of Pikachu.

A neat feature of this game is that it has a built in clock. There is night and day and some Pokemon can only be caught during these times. It acts in real time so when it is daytime, it is day in the morning, and vice-versa.

The graphics (as I said before) , are absolutely great! The battle animations look wicked and the look of the Pokemon are astounding! (Seaking looks cool!) In addition to that, the scenery looks much better with park benches and the inside of most houses looking great. If you don't already do so, get a Gameboy Color, it is worth it!

Some new features of these games are the addtion of a bunch more HM's. Another is that you don't ever more, need to go into your menu's to use HM's like cut, just walk up to the tree and press A. And you don't start out with one of the normal 3 Pokemon ( Bulbasaur, Charmander Ect.) But 3 new ones! There is a Grass one, a Fire and a Water. That means you can catch Squirtle and the others in the game!!!

My Rating:* * * * * 5 Stars!

Walkthrough

Hour #1

I named my character Gomba, unfortunately there is only 5 spaces to write your name. The introduction to the game is GREAT and a must see. I started out in my room and you mother promptly comes out and sends you on your way. I visited Professor Utsagi who game me one of the new Pokemon. There was a Fire, Grass, and Water Pokemon. I picked the Grass one named Chico. There is more to the name but as I said before, there is only 5 spaces to write names. The first Pokemon I fought was a Pidgey but the second was a new one called Otach. It stands on itsEtail and has a white circle on its belly. After that fight, my Chico rose to level 6. It was neat, my Chico was going to die in one fight, but an item attached to it saved it. It brought back 15 Hp. You can do this by choosing the Item menu on your PKMN menu. I found Yoshin city. A guy showed me around and gave me a town map, very helpful! Pro. Utsagi said that Pro. Oak was North of here and will give me a Pokedex. First when I got to Pro. Oaks place, a guy gave me something but I dont know what. Then I got the Pokedex from Oak. Weird, I got a phone call saying something had happened at Utsagis place, better hurry! Uh oh, on the way back to my main town, I met my Rival. We fight! He / she looks like a girl. He picked the fire Pokemon of course but I beat it into the ground because mine was 2 levels ahead of his. I gained enough experience from that fight to raise it to level 8 where it learned RAZLEAF, most likely Razor Leaf. And you start out in Wakaba Town. Someone (your rival who I called Pika) stole one of the Profs Pokemon. And on the way out, his Aide gave me a Pokeball x5 . Good enough!

Day 2:
Well I traveled back to Yoshin city where I promptly caught a Lv4 Rattata. My Chico is now at Lv. 8. On the way back to Oaks place I caught a Lv4 Caterpie. Cool! I then fought a Trainer who was busy fighting another Trainer and was blocking the road. Then I fought a ton more trainers and arrived at this new town and quickly went to the Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon who were almost fainted. My Chico is at Lv 9, my Rattata is at Lv 5 and so is my Caterpie. In the town, there is a guy willing to trade a Bellsprout for an Onix. Too bad I havent seen and Bellsprout, yet. ALEULIA!! The first gym! This gym has all bird Pokemon. Wont go there yet. Also in the town there is a tower, that shows tribute to Bellsprout. Might catch one there. Well it is filled with trainers, all with Bellsprout! Then I meet my rival at the top he is trying to get something from the guy at the top. But Gomba steps in and he disappears. And I dont know why, but the guy that I saved from my Rival, wanted a battle. He had 2 Lv 7 Bellsprouts and 1 Lv 10 Hoo-Hoo, an owl type Pokemon. Once I beat him, he gave me HM05 FLASH!!! OK, now onto the Gym. 1st Trainer has::: 1 Pokemon, a Lv 9 Spearow. After a quick healing, I went back to fight the second Trainer, who had::: 2 Pokemon 2 Lv. 7 Pidgeys. And to fight the Gym Leader,::: who has 2 PKMN, a Lv. 7 Pidgey and a Lv. 9 Pidgeotto. Yuck, I lost on Pidgeotto. Gust attack killed both my Chico and Metapod, my Rattata was almost dead because of the first Pidgey. Well, Im going to get a Geodude tomorrow and try it again.

Day3:
Ok back again to the Gym. I got plenty of potions and got a Geodude and a Zubat so I think Im set. Lets try again. VICTORIOUS! With my Chico only surviving. What saved me was Rattatas Tail Whip. I will never underestimate it again. I figured out what the city Im in is called Kikyou. I found a Bellsprout East of the town and Traded it for an Onix. I also got an egg (whick contains Togepi) from Prof. Oaks Aide. I put some of my Pokemon in the box so I now have::: This Electric Sheep Named Merip, an Onix, a Rattata which Im gonna replace, Metapod, and Chico. Sweet, my Metapod evolved into Butterfree and learned Confusion at Level 10! I travel a bit a fight a bunch of Fishermen Trainers. My Merip got quite a workout and grew to Lv 10.
