Dawson's Creek is possibly the WB's trademark show. Maybe even more so than Buffy. The characters are some of the most realistic on the WB and the cast is of the highest quality. I am, of course, talking only of the first series. The second series was good but didn't have such an origional feel to it and the third series was pretty terrible. Maybe that is because the cast (most of them coming up to their thirties) are meant to be playing 16 year olds, just a thought. Hey, i'm being way too negative here. The show is pure quality and the third series could have been worse, just look at Popular! As I said, the cast is great. It stars James Van Der Beek (about 2 seconds of Scary Movie), Katie Holmes (Cruel intentions), Joshua Jackson (Cruel Intentions), Michelle Williams (Halloween H2O) and Kerr Smith (Final Destination). I really like the base of the storyline as well. Dawson and Joey have been best friends for ever and they have both spent their entire lives watching films at Dawson's house. Of course, typically, they grow up and end up falling in love. There, that sums up most of the first series, intentionally missing out anything to do with Jen as no-one really likes her. More happened in the second series but I won't bother getting into that. Oh, and by the end of the third series Joey is going out with Dawson's best friend Pacy. Awkward or what??? |
