Once there was a girl named April Showers.
Once there was a girl named May Flowers.
Once there was a girl named June Bugs.
These four were not ordinary girls. They were the daughters of three powerful fairies. And like their powerful mothers, these girls would quarrel constantly bragging about their powers, or at least the powers they were developing. They were still learning how to use them.
April had power over the rainclouds in the sky. She could decide whether the next day would be sunny and cloudless or catastrophically stormy. She was the most powerful in April.
May had power over the flowers and plants on the earth. She could decide whether an area land would be a luscious forest or a barren desert. She was the most powerful in May.
June was the strangest of the three. She had just enough power to prevent the bugs from doing things but not control them. For example, if she wanted a ladybug to walk left, she could prevent it from moving right, but it could still move forward or backward instead of left. Still, she was compensated for her weak power over the insect world by being gifted a stronger power. It was strong influence over the sun. Her exuberance and zeal could make the sun shine bright, making it warmer. And whenever this happened, the bugs would make beautiful music below the tall grass.
And down below a couple miles down on the ground stood the One Namer's cottage. Nobody ever really knew this mysterious One Namer. He usually remained in solitude.
Who is the One Namer, you say? He is the reason why the Lilly who lives next door to you is Lilly, or why the George who gives you your mail is George. He names all creatures and all things. He is...the One Namer.
Bum Bum BUM!
Anyway, the One Namer was searching through his cupboard.
"Potion #2, no, Potion #5, no, ah! Here it is!" The One Namer took out a vial of green liquid. "This potion better do what it's supposed to do. All those nights of tedious experiments... It should work."
Back in the heavens miles above the earth sat April, May, and June. Two spring fairies and a summer fairy.
May: "You idiot! We had a deal! You've drowned my little flowers, fool!"
April: "You and your stupid rules. 'Not too much rain, please. Just a wee bit more. No, a bit more. Too much. A little less.' Why do YOU get to have all the fun with your powers? I'd like to try the limits of mine too!"
May: "And YOU! Your disgusting insects are destroying my beautiful fields and forests!"
June: "I'm sorry. I really am. I tried to stop the insects, but I you know very well that I do not have full control of them. Besides, insects need to eat too.
May: "You two idiots! Neither of you have any idea how to control your powers!"
Suddenly the flowers of the ground began to suck water out of the air at an amazing speed.
May: "Take that!"
April: "Oh yeah?"
There was a sudden flash and crack in the sky. Then rain began to drench the ground below.
Then April and May began to battle with their powers.
June: "Stop it! Stop it! You're killing life down below! Stop it!"
Down below on the ground, the One Namer still worked with his potions.
"That's odd. Just five minutes ago, it was a sunny, clear day. And now-"
KAPOW! The thunder cracked in the dark, gray sky. The sudden thunder frightened him, and the One Namer accidently dropped the vial.
"Oops." A green, swirly cloud began to drift out in every direction and slowly slid out under the doors. It headed upwards.
Back in the skies, the girls still bickered.
June: "Stop it! Stop it!"
A green, swirly cloud, more like a fog, began to drift up slowly towards April.
June: "April! Look out!"
April: "What?"
A bolt of lightning zigzaged through the sky. The green fog began to move away from April. But April was scared stiff, and she began to strike the green fog with lightning bolts. The cloud began to move rapidly at her. April screamed. June kept telling April to stop striking it with lightning. May still battled April's rain down below with her powers, oblivious to the green fog.
April: "HELP!"
The green fog began to wrap around her. Then it began to spread until it shrouded all three of the girls, well fairy girls. The girls slowly fell into a deep trance...
Down below, the One Namer tried walking in the violent thunderstorm using a ripped, shredded umbrella. The look on the One Namer's face revealed his qualm. The One Namer looked up at the sky.
"I must find that cloud! Who knows who could've been hurt?"
April, May, and June woke up on the cloud that they were on before falling into unconsciousness.
April(M): "What happened? It was your fault, wasn't it? YOU used the lightning bolts! You-"
She looked at the other girl.
April(M): "Wait a minute. You're me!"
May(J): What?
June(A): I must stop the rain. Hey! It's not working! Eww! All the bugs are coming out of hiding!
May(J): I'M June. Let me make them go the way. Hey! It's not working! Look at those sycamores! They're growing so quickly!
Meanwhile, the One Namer was stuck in the forest.
"Ahh! The trees are choking me! Where did all these bugs come from?"
April(M): Cool, I have April's power.
KAPOW!
"Oh, just great. Now it's raining on me," the One Namer mumbled.
Then the One Namer saw the three girls as a cloud parted from beneath a larger one. The One Namer quickly took out a vial and the green fog slithered through the sky and entered back into the vial. He shut the vial and returned to his cottage.
The new April, May, and June regretted the trouble they had caused upon the earth and among themselves. That moment, they decided that they would never fight or quarrel ever again. They would take turns dominating the earth with their powers by assigning a month to each of themselves during the springtime. And they agreed to use their powers in harmony with each other, so April showers brought May flowers, and May flowers brought June bugs. And the earth lived in peace once again.
The End.
