Kaleidoscope

At the age of five, there were few things so frustrating.

When the chips fell in an extra-pleasing arrangement, I wanted to freeze the image so I could enjoy it forever. I was never successfully able to do so. Usually, my clumsy coordination scattered the semblance into oblivion. Sometimes all it took was gravity.

Invariably, I'd try to go back and recreate that random beauty. I'd gingerly shift the scope, hoping to will the colored bits back together. But it was impossible.

You can't go back.

Of course, you don't have to. There's an infinite number of pleasing combinations.

Let the chips fall where they may, indeed.
