The Feeding Frenzy’s
Should a newcomer stumble upon one of these taverns or forums, and ask a few questions, they are in for a rough ride. One will see quoted statements, “Gor is not just.” “Gor is not fair.” “Gor is a harsh place.” “The word for *Stranger* and *Enemy* is the same on Gor.” Lifestylers revel in using these statements as a basis for ridiculing anyone who may ask a few challenging questions. If one is approaching a Gorean tavern or forum for the first time, it is required to show almost obsequious respect to their hosts. They are likely to be told that they are being judged by Gorean men and women. Unless their attitude is one of a student respectfully learning from a great mentor, what can only be described as a feeding frenzy will occur. The whole clique will gather to attack. They prefer to have someone who has behaved in a way that can be judged as a little silly so they may publicly discredit them.
They will produce logs and quotes from writings the person may have submitted. These submissions are often corrupted in the interpretation. People who spell badly and have trouble with verbally expressing themselves are allowed to remain posting for as long as they can ridicule them. Those who are able to intelligently debate, and yet will not accept the viability of living as a Gorean are ridiculed far more savagely, and if they continue to debate in a fashion that indicates that they know what they are talking about, they will be banned from further posting. Those they debated with will close the discussion with insulting comments.
The banned poster is of course prevented from replying. Often further posts will refer back to them ridiculing them further, and reporting as fact suppositions about the poster and his or her Lifestyle. Most people would consider this cowardly dishonourable behaviour.
