SADISTIK EXEKUTION

Rok (vocals); Dave Slave (bass); Sloth (drums); Rev. Kriss Hades (guitar)

Complete chaos and violent death metal hell is at the core of Sadistik Exekution's existence. Undoubtedly Australia's most legendary heavy metal band, and certainly the best known overseas, Sad Ex as they've come to be known are among the true pioneers of both the modern death and black metal genres. Sadistik's music is a ballistic and unrelenting assault of incredibly fast riffs and raw aggressive vocals. Formed in 1986 by Rok and Dave Slave, the pair spent several years in both Sydney and Melbourne finding the right players as well as undertaking a constant campaign of outrageous publicity stunts and initimidation which led to the band having a bona fide legendary status even before they'd ever recorded or played. The Rev. Kriss Hades joined the band in 1990 but the incredibly raw debut album was recorded with Sandy Vahdanni on guitar, either because Hades couldn't travel to Sydney at the time or simply because the others forgot he was in the band! By late that year the line-up was as stable as it was ever going to get. We Are Death Fukk You featured drum tracks by Steve Hughes who replaced Sloth midway through recording, but a back injury meant he couldn't tour with them overseas. Skitz from Damaged journeyed with them through Europe with Impaled Nazarene and Absu, and on returning to Australia Sloth rejoined. Live Sad Ex are unmissable, with gigs turning into circuses of debauchery featuring massive volume, appalling and sickening acts of depravity from Dave Slave, Rok's insane rantings and Hades' habit of playing with 50 or so safety pins through his skin, with cartoon violence and even physical attacks on the crowd not uncommon. 1998 was a particularly busy year for the band's members, with Dave Slave issuing a solo album under the name Digital Fiction, Rok also releasing an album of his own, Kriss joining Nazxul and Sloth also working on a separate project. Dave, Rok and Kriss indicated for most of 2000 that Sadistik Exekution was no more, although this was obviously another of their whims as the band was working on another album with an appearance at Metal for the Brain slated for 2000. That fell through when Dave Slave broke his leg in a fight however and while it remains unclear, as always, exactly what Sadistik Exekution is currently doing, the band has announced that it is to release Fukk II at some point in the future. Hades issued a solo album called Wind of Orion in early 2002.
