Special thanks to Artemis K. Kat for helping me while writing.
Authors note II: In this story the characters have heartbeats. Not sure if it’s
correct or not. Please correct me if you have knowledge in this area. ^^

Part I
Tatsumi secretly studied the beautiful man, the grace with which
he moved, the aura of energy and excitement that he exuded. With a wistful sigh
and a mental slap he tried to get the unwelcome, but not entirely unpleasant
images that was currently haunting him, out of his head and only partly
succeeded. As long as the beautiful creature was in his presence, he would not
be able to concentrate on anything else but him.
Not that it would be much better when he was alone. He had found
himself daydreaming more than once, when he should be concentrating on the
budget. The smallest thing could set of such a daydream and he was completely
helpless to stop it, which irritated him to no end. It was not normal behavior
for him and he was becoming more than spooked by it. He thought of himself as efficient
and in control and the way he had been thinking lately was less than efficient.
Unexpectedly he felt a hand on his shoulder and he gasped in
surprise. His eyes widened in confused shock when he discovered that someone
waved a hand in front of his face. Then Watari’s face appeared right in front
of his own, graced with a look of concern, one eyebrow raised in worry.
“Tatsumi, are you alright?
You look a little flushed.”
Tatsumi let his eyes circle the room. He could see the faces of
the others and the various emotions they displayed. Konoe Chief looked annoyed,
Tsuzuki puzzled and Hisoka’s face was blank showing no emotion at all. Tatsumi
realized that someone must have asked him a question and he hadn’t responded.
He mentally kicked himself hard and tried to pull himself together.
“I’m fine. I was just thinking”, he said hastily, embarrassed by
the blush he could feel heating his cheeks.
The rest of the meeting he used every ounce of concentration he had
on paying attention to the questions he was asked. He didn’t think his pride
could survive another mistake like that again. It was however a monumental task
since the object of his affection was in his line of sight no matter how he
tried to avoid looking at him.

Tatsumi spent the following days changing between daydreaming and
scolding himself for daydreaming. He found that he had begun nursing some
rather silly romantic fantasies and while they made him somewhat happy while
they lasted, he also knew that they would lead nowhere.
The worst was that he had been caught staring a few times. He had
tried to be subtle, but had unfortunately failed. Every time he had been caught
he had looked away and tried to look indifferent, but he knew by the puzzled
facial expression he received that he hadn’t succeeded in doing anything but
make a fool of himself.
He was now sitting outside on a bench. The sun was beginning to
set and the sky was a golden orange. He was deep in thought, scolding himself
for his foolishness after having another small daydream, when he felt a hand
touch his shoulder. He jumped, startled out of his reverie at the slight touch
and turned to face the person that occupied his thoughts constantly. He was
stunned by the sheer beauty of the man in front of him, the way the wind would
play with his hair, the way the light from the sun reflected in his eyes, the
way his smile would light up his whole face.
For a moment he was totally speechless, his heart beating wildly
and his breath coming in short pants. He couldn’t move, not even to blink his
eyes, all he was capable of was staring at the vision before him.
His eyes widened as the beautiful vision leaned close and placed a
hand on his chin. He mind was spinning as he tried to contemplate whether or
not this was yet another daydream, but they never felt this real. He could feel
his throat go dry and his palms becoming sweaty. He felt a crazy need to laugh,
to move, to just do *something*, but he found that he was unable to move at all.
The person leaned closer towards him with agonizing slowness. His lips were
caught in a gentle kiss and he gasped a single word.
“Watari.”
