Things are going great out here in California!
The weather has been beautiful and clear, the air clean and fresh.
Last Saturday (September 26th) was our first 10 mile run. It was
a waterfront run starting at the San Francisco Ferry Building and
continuing along the Embarcadero. We ran past Pier 39 and Fisherman's
Wharf, amazing the tourists (there were over 100 runners.) We went
through the Marina District and Chrissy Field, and along the bottom
of the Presidio heading towards the Golden Gate Bridge.
We ran up the stairs at Fort Point and continued across the Golden
Gate Bridge which, by the way, was constructed in a way that somehow
makes it mostly up hill. Really.
Once across, we circled under the bridge and through the U.S. Coast
Guard installation, cresting a long hill and going down through
town to end at the Sausalito Ferry in Marin County.
I did it in two hours and four minutes, which is about twelve and
a half minute miles. I have another ten mile run this Saturday,
and though I may clock a better time, I'll not be able to find a
more beautiful course!
