Unfortunately there is very little in English on Takarazuka, but in Japan the fan base is huge and fanatic, especially with school girls.

The Takarazuka Review is an all-female theater troupe started in 1913. It has been hugely popular since it's inception. All the male and female parts are played by single woman who go to a special high school in Takarazuka City. | |

At an early age in their schooling the girls are given the gender they will protray for the rest of their professional careers. The review is by and large western in costuming and very very Rococo. | |
