Visual Rock has a ledgendary icon and his name is Hide. He was the lead gutar and back-up singer of the band X-Japan until conflict in the band made him strike out on his own. He had multiple projects in the works and a new album ready to go with his new band "Hide with Spread Beaver" when on the morning of May 2nd 1998 he was found hanged in his house, Noah's Ark. Hide was incredibly photogenic and charismatic, he helped create a huge popular fan base for VisRock.

K&K's Wired X-Japan, has great story on the death of Hide. http://members.tripod.com/~ShockWIRED/Hide_Shinda.html This site has a good Bio on Hide that is well worth reading. |
Like all true ledgends there are conspiracy theories that his death involved foul play. A memorial album for him went to number one on the Japanese charts and "new" recordings of his music continue to be released.
