Ain't she cute? One Mary Sue for you to color...

Another Mary Sue already colored in for you.

Mary Sue the... Mary Sue

"Eyes like a storm at sea! Hair cascading down my back! Newest member of The Quartet! True love of Draco Malfoy! Envy of all the boys at Hogwarts! I am MARY SUE, the exchange student from AMERICA."
~Mary Sue, "Harry Potter and the Stray Mary Sue"

Ah yes, the ever-annoying, yet slightly-adorable, infamous Mary Sue. Those of you not in the "know" may be wondering "What is a Mary Sue?" Those of you even less in the "know" may be wondering "What? A Mary Sue is a thing? Something besides a name?"

And the answer is that yes, a Mary Sue is a typical stereotype. They're quite common, invading all fandoms (particularly amongst ff.net). Even though you may not have know what it was at the time, you've most likely seen one.

A Mary Sue is that annoyingly perfect OC (original character) whom all the guys fall in love with and who saves the day. As a rule, a whole page must be taken up describing her upon her dreaded enterance into the story. Of that page, at least a paragraph must be spent on her eyes, of an extraordinary color (of course). These are the stories you get less than a chapter into before realizing you don't want to be anywhere near the lousy thing. (To create your own Mary Sue, go to the Mary Sue Generator)

A skillful author may be able to write in a Mary Sue without completely ruining the story. Even so, Mary Sues and OCs are not generally welcomed into fandom by readers, on principle, and are generally shunned. They're much more successful in original works. For example, JK Rowling herself has said that she was much like Hermione as a child. A very successful Mary Sue, in my opinion. *huggles Hermione*

My Mary Sue is the personification of Mary-Sue-ness. Note big bust, implausably long hair, American-exchange-student-ness, male magnatism, and instant belonging amongst the fav main characters. What a wonderful conflict for a fanfic, man (Harry&Co.) vs. man (Mary Sue), the perfect antagonist-

Wait! This story's not supposed to have a plot! I shouldn't have said that. I should not have said that.

Anyways, in "Harry Potter and the Stray Mary Sue", Harry, Co., and even Draco must find a way to get rid of that annoying Mary Sue before they all go insane. She'll be a hard one, with seemingly harmless defenses they have yet to discover... Good luck!
