Most comic heroes debeut with their creation, but Batman didn't. His creation was published in Detective Comics #32, October 1939, five months after his first appearence. The creation story has changed over time, each writer and artist putting their own twist on the tale. Here is the first one, the basis for everything else. It was scripted by Gardner Fox and the art was done by Bob Kane.
