X-EDITOR JOINS THE BAT OFFICE

-----------------------------------------------------------

Marvel editor Lysa Hawkins (X-Men Unlimited) has confirmed online reports that she's leaving the publisher to take a position within DC Comics Batman office as of next week (September 10th). No word yet on which Bat titles she’ll be working on.

GCPD BLUES ?

-------------------------

Newsarama also reported this week that DC may have a project in the early stages of development that would focus on one of the comic book world's most corrupt police departments, the Gotham City Police Department - in an ongoing series written by Rucka and Brubaker and illustrated by Michael Lark.

Rumored to be called 'Gotham Central', Rucka and Brubaker would reputedly share writing chores in a unique way - with each of them writing alternating stories, with one writer handling the night shift of the GCPD and the other handing the day shift.

MORE JL ANIMATED WRITERS ANNOUNCED

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The Comics Continuum web-site reports that Fabian Nicieza and Christopher Sequeira have been added to the list of writers for Justice League Adventures, DC Comics' new title based on the upcoming Cartoon Network animated series.

"I wrote one issue already," Nicieza told The Continuum. "I don't know when it's scheduled for."

Sequeira, from Australia, said he just sold his script to DC for an issue.

"I'm joining the likes of (Ty) Templeton, (Mike W.) Barr, Nicieza, (Len) Kaminski, (Dan) Slott and (Paul) Storrie, and am delirious to find myself in such company." Sequeira said.

"My first story for DC, and I've been given the privilege of putting words in the mouths of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and their colleagues. Did I get revved up writing this? Oath, mate, I did!

"Not to reveal too much, but my story has seven Leaguers, at least as many deadly foes, an international crisis, and hopefully a scene or three that might surprise you, and that might touch you."

TIM LEVINS TALKS GOTHAM ADVENTURES

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Batman: Gotham Adventures artist Tim Levins told The Comics Continuum website that he will be co-plotting the 50th issue with writer Scott Peterson.

"Right now, it looks like it's probably going to be a Catwoman story," Levins told The Continuum.

Levins has co-plotted with Peterson before, including #43 and #44. He is currently drawing #46, which is a Ventriloquist story.

Levins, whose credits also include Image Comics' Siren, has been drawing Gotham Adventures for more than two years.

"My own style is pretty simple and cartoony to begin with," he said. "So it's been a nice fit for me."

Although the Batman Beyond and Superman Adventures books have been canceled and Gotham Adventures' sales have slumped, Levins said he's heard nothing about the book being canceled.

"I'm hoping to stay on as long as I can," he said.

THE LAST BB EPISODE AIRS NEXT WEEK

----------------------------------------------------------------

It was announced this week that the only episode of Batman Beyond yet to air, "Unmasked," will be the final episode of the show on Kids' WB! before it moves to Cartoon Network.

"Unmasked" will air Friday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. (ET) on Kids' WB!

"Although I was involved in the initial development of the story, Hilary Bader wrote 'Unmasked,'" Rich Fogel, who is currently overseeing stories for Cartoon Network's Justice League, told The Comics Continuum web-site this week.

"I haven't seen the finished episode yet, but I think it will reaffirm certain aspects of the Batman mythos in a compelling way. However, as is often the case, this was not originally intended to be the series finale, and it certainly does not wrap up all the loose ends. But who knows, maybe we haven't heard the last of Terry McGinnis."

" Batman Beyond is moving to Cartoon Network on Oct. 1.

According to a Cartoon Network representative, "Unmasked" is not part of the Batman Beyond package that the network acquired, so the episode isn't scheduled to air there.

When Cartoon Network bought the rights to BB, they bought the rights to all aired episodes. As “Unmasked” was the only episode unaired at the time of the deal, it is excluded from the package that Cartoon Network can run. It won’t be seen again until Cartoon Network have the opportunity to renew the rights to Batman Beyond.

FOREVER ON UPN

--------------------------

UPN announced it’s Fall season “Friday Night Movie” line-up this week. 1995’s BATMAN FOREVER starring Val Kilmer, Jim Carrey, Tommy Lee Jones and Nichole Kidman will be part of the package and will air at least twice between now and the end of the year.
