GOTHAM WEEKLY NEWS #168
Friday October 12th 2001
*************************************************************
Hi folks –
Well folks, I hope your week has been somewhat better than mine. The company I work for effectively shut down yesterday so I’m now out looking for a new “day job.”
I will try and make sure GWN stays on schedule, but please accept my apologies in advance if any issues are late or skipped over the upcoming weeks.
I also owe several people responses to e-mails. I haven’t forgotten you. I’ve decided to head out for the weekend, take a mini-break, clear my head and do some thinking about what I want to do next.
Once I’m back I will start answering questions and returning e-mails again.
Thanks, and all the best

MOVIE NEWS

BAT MOVIES IN LIMBO ?
------------------------------------
Dark Horizons reports that “: Coming Soon has an update from an anonymous source on the current status of the various "Batman" movies:
"Batman: Year One," to be directed by Darren Aronofsky. Throw any casting rumors you've heard on this film out the door. It is simply too premature, as no casting has begun. And why not? Because the scripts have been rejected numerous times now and that doesn't mean they went back to revise them either. Nope, each time a script has been rejected for the new film, they have gone back to square one delaying the project even further.
"Batman Beyond" was apparently too expensive due to the futuristic environments that would have had to be created, our source claims, and Warner Bros. dumped the film in the trash. Sorry director Boaz Yakin and screenwriters Paul Dini and Alan Burnett.
On to "Superman and Batman," which reportedly had screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker ("Sleepy Hollow") and director Wolfgang Petersen attached. Same thing - stuck in development hell, and will more than likely stay there."
