CATWOMAN "BONDAGE" COSTUME IS FOR REAL

Well it seems that the photo of the ripped "bondage" style CATWOMAN costume first published in TIME was genuine. Apparently this is the final version of the costume as it "evolves" over the course of the movie. A new better quality picture of Berry in a slightly modified version of the costume was issued this week (as above). In the meantime on-set work continues and we have more pictures from Vancouver in the Movie News section below.

On a more personal note, the latest NOTES FROM THE CAVE column was posted this week at Defender of Gotham website. Click here to read my thoughts on why "Batman Needs George Lucas."

DC SENDS TEEN TITANS #1 AND SUPERMAN/BATMAN #1 BACK TO PRESS FOR NEW PRINTINGS!

(DC Comics Press Release) Two of the DCU's hottest premiere issues have been sent back to press for new printings. TEEN TITANS #1 Fourth Printing and SUPERMAN/BATMAN #1 Third Printing  are both available for order now and are scheduled to arrive in stores on November 5.

TEEN TITANS #1 Fourth Printing features an alternate version of Michael Turner's cover from this issue, presenting Turner's original pencils without inking or coloring.

"Fantastic news! I couldn't be prouder of this book and I couldn't be happier at DC," says writer Geoff Johns. "The momentum the DCU has been gaining these last few months is just the beginning. A big thanks to the Titans fans, both new and old!"

SUPERMAN/BATMAN #1 Third Printing features a never-before-published cover by Ed McGuinness.

"I'm incredibly proud of the success this title," says writer Jeph Loeb. "Launching a new Superman or Batman book is daunting enough, but putting them together was going to be a recipe for either disaster or success. Obviously, I'm loving the latter. I hope readers who are just picking up #3 have a chance to grab this first issue (and #2 as well). Big props go out to the entire team, but in particular all the retailers who continue to support the book, not just by ordering it, but by telling their customers it's a fun read. All that - and a new McGuinness cover, too!"

"I'm floored," says penciller Ed McGuinness. "I've never been on a book that's this successful. It's been a lot of fun!"

LATEST BATMAN 5 RUMORS & NEWS

Rumors continue to circulate that Dennis Quaid has been cast as Jim Gordon. While the name of John Malkovich has been connected to both villianous roles, Ra's Al Ghul or The Scarecrow.

MORE CATWOMAN UPDATES

According to a report on the Dark Horizons site, the much discussed "bondage" costume, may in fact be worn by Halle Berry at the film's conclusion, as the character "evolves" to a more feline like stage. However for the majority of the movie she will wear the more practical version seen in the on-set photos. (see top of page for latest publicity shots of the "evolved" costume.)

Away from her recent shooting schedule, Berry has been making the talk show rounds promoting her new release Gothika. Of course conversation has often been steered around towards what is happening on CATWOMAN. Talking to David Letterman, Berry revealed that her character is just one of "nine catwomen" who have existed over time. (A neat way of paying homage to previous incarnations and laying the foundation for a franchise where different people can play the lead role - a la The Crow series.) There is in fact a rumor already circulating that Berry is trying to get out of the "sequel clause" in her contract.

Shooting Schedule in Vancouver

October 8th - This was Sharon Stone's first day on set. She appeared with short blonde hair cut and wrapped in fur coat. Also some set-up shots of what appears to be a "Community Fair."

October 10th - The scenes being done involved Halle Berry and Benjamin Bratt who's characters are romantically involved in the film riding the Ferris Wheel while nuzzling with each other. Countless close-ups of Halle and Ben getting jerked around from the Ferris Wheel's sudden abrasive stop where shot. A young boy gets flung out of his seat from the stop forcing Patience Price (Berry) to climb out and rescue the boy revealing some of her extraordinary abilities to Detective Tom Lone (Bratt). The latter stunt work is to be done over the next few days.
