Mattell goe Back To The Batcave
Just in time for Back to School, Mattel goes
Back to the Batcave by releasing the FOUR HORSEMEN sculpted Batman and Joker
Jim Lee-styled figures. New Robin and Nightwing figures will also make their debut at your
local toy store chain. Fans will appreciate the attention given to such details as the
spot-on utility belt for the Zip-line Batman and true colors of black and grey.
For aquatic ventures, there is Batman in a seaweed-colored Hydro-Suit mode (sku:B4976)
with flipper boots and webbed finger gloves. This version of the Bat-suit has its own Dive
pack containing Batmans oxygen tank connecting to a breathing mask. Batmans
dive pack also has the ability to launch missiles at his attackers or the errant shark
that wanders into Gothams waterways courtesy of the Joker.
Martial Arts Batman (sku:B4978) garbed in a burgundy and gold-trimmed outfit has a
karate-style utility-belt with multiple bat-shaped ninja stars attached (non-removable).
As his name implies, he also comes with karate weapons like the Dual Ax Bow staff that
converts into a set of nunchuks as well as a wrist-attaching set of 3 blades.
Battle Armor Batman has removable chest-plate body armor and spike-laden gauntlets needed
when tussling with a meta-villain like Killer Croc (sku:B4977).
Other figures in this assortment include the Boy Wonder, Robin (sku:B4980) and his
hover-styled Battle Board with missile launching disc. True to the comic character Tim
Drake, this figure is a must have for all Batman fans.
What Superhero assortment would be complete without a villain to trounce on as the Joker
(sku:B4981) makes his Mattel debut accompanied by his Joker Bazooka.
Also on store shelves currently are three Deluxe figures with enhanced costumed features
such as the Stealth Armor Batman (sku:B4989) which brings to mind when the U.S. Air-Force
released photos of the Stealth Bomber back in the early 80s and it was nicknamed the
Bat-Plane -- this figures accessories pay homage to the aforementioned
military sky-ware.
Mattel has also released two-pack assortments of Batman and Nightwing (sku:B4983) and a
"World's Finest" with Superman teaming up with the Dark Knight (sku:B4984).
With a vault full of accessory-laden suits, several gadgets and gizmos to tickle any
techies fantasy, the Dark Knight Detective has built himself a series of vehicles to
help him get around town. With the Batcycle ready and able this bi-tired vehicle has
rev-action mobility and sports a missile-launching tail-fin. (Batman comes affixed on this
version of the Batcycle and cannot be removed.)
In an attempt to make Jesse James of Monster Garage jealous, the Four Horsemen have
also created an unique and awesome-looking Batmobile (sku:4944) which has a break-away
second sled-cycle for Robin to make tracks on his own and catch up to a villain from
another direction. (This concept design for the Batmobile has also been included in the
2004 First Edition series of Hot Wheels. It is listed as #1 of 100 for the new line for
Hot Wheels.)
