Alex lives in Burg, and is happily married to Luna. They're expecting a child, but he hasn't told anyone yet. He sees his friends from time to time. In the story, he's seen mostly in flashbacks, and in a few scenes when he comes to Vane for the Festival. In the end, he'll help them, even though he has lost his dragon powers. He's still a great leader.
