Gregory is one of the elders of the Council of Vane, a Master of Illusion Magic, and Sergeant at Arms for the Council. His students call him "the ageless mage, since he has been around as long as anyone can remember. Gregory is also the man who found a filthy child with unusual powers in Reza ten years before. He brought the boy to Vane, and taught him how to fit in, including changing his name from Kinashua to "Nash." They have a close relationship. Gregory's secret throughout the story, and the reason that he doesn't seem to age, is that he is actually the Black Dragon of Althena. The only being who knows this is Nall. Gregory is a kind soul, and a bit of a quick wit. He is the most humanistic member of the Council, and the others resent him for being so liberal. Once, he was in love with a Guildmaster, Mia's grandmother, Relina, but he realized that this relationship would not work out.
