Ever wanted to know the story of Streetfighter? Why they're all bashing each other? Actually there are a few different stories...some of them contradict each other, too. The following is an attempt by me to sort them all out, whilst rating the movies they came from. Warning: spoilers. And you might want to copy this and read it offline, because it's pretty long.
STREETFIGHTER 2 V
The story begins when Ryu recieves a letter from Ken telling him to go to America, with a plane ticket and money enclosed. Ryu and Ken go to a bar and meet Guile and his army boys, and get thrashed. Whilst they are recovering, Ken decides that they should just go aound the world, looking for good Streetfighters like Guile. This is all possible because Ken comes from an EXTREMELY rich family. (20 minute drive from backyard to mansion, no kidding)
The two friends don't get very far until they start to get involved with people (Chun Li, their tour guide in Hong Kong, her father, the police chief Dorai, and his kung fu student Fei Long, who happens to be the best fighter in the world and a movie star.). This is where Bison and his crime syndicate, Shadowloo, come in. They attempt to kill Dorai a few times and bungle it, and eventually the green eyed assassin Cami manages to kill him.
From here the plot gets worse. Ryu and Chun Li are captured by Bison and turned evil, and Ken, Guile, and his partner Charlie have to fight them. Charlie dies (no matter...he looked nothing like the Charlie of SFA...this Charlie has short black hair, glasses, and a beard) and Ryu and Ken eventually defeat Bison. The problem with this series is that all this happens in 29 episodes. Most of what you see is recap, opening sequence, closing sequence, and footage that you've already seen before. For example, Ryu spins his hands around slowly though the air to charge his hadoken for about ten minutes, and this shot is seen in most of the episodes.
There are a few things you might not expect in SF2V. Ken seems to be the main character. He goes out with Chun Li, is cast as the bad guy in Fei Long's action movie, and gets to fight Evil Ryu.
In the live action movie, and a few of the games, it says that Charlie died in the Vietnam war. In this series, Guile and Charlie are summoned to Bison's fortress only to rescue Ken. Advice: If you are tempted to watch Streetfighter 2 V, rent the first 2 and last 2 videos. you won't miss out on much.

STREETFIGHTER
Starring Jean Claude Van Damme (Guile), Kylie Minogue (Cammy) and Raul Julia (Bison).
Basically Bison threatens to rule the world, so the army comes in and stops him.
This movie is trash in every way. Riddled with mistakes and differences for no real reason. Guile has been made the main character, probably for no other reason than because he's an American. Ryu and Ken are lurking around in the background, as comic relief, not awesome fighters. Cammy and Guile appear to be together, which was never supposed to happen in the real story. Kylie Minogue, an Australian, has been cast to play someone who was supposed to be British, and i don't remember Guile having any accent other than an American one in the real story. One of the biggest mistakes is that in the movie, Charlie turned out not to have died, but to have been turned into a green-skinned beast by Bison. Of course, in the games, Blanka and Charlie are two completely different characters.
The bottom line is, even if you don't care about the real SF, Streetfighter is still just another Jean Claude Van Damme movie, and it certainly isn't his best either.
STREETFIGHTER ANIMATED MOVIE
Now we're "burnin' muscle". This has a similar story to SF 2 V, except it's set a few years later, and it's all in one concise feature-length package. No cheap re-use of animation.
Ryu beats Sagat and scars his chest with the Dragon Punch. Meanwhile Chun Li, now working for interpol, (spelt Interpole in the movie) briefs the some police guy about Bison and his new killing machines, Vega, Balrog, and Sagat, who he has brainwashed somehow. Bison is searching for Ryu, the ultimate fighter, to brainwash him too. (that way he can take over the world MWAHAHA etc). But of course, Ryu is too elusive, so Bison brainwashes his partner Ken instead. Guile is called in by Chun Li to find Ryu before Bison grabs him, and so there is a huge showdown between the forces of good and evil.
All the characters from SFTurbo are there, even Akuma.....anyone who's seen him before will be able to spot him there in the background.
Ryu is the main character in this one, as he should be, and Chun Li and Guile are together. Ken asks his girlfriend Eliza to marry him, but there are plenty of subtle hints of.....intimacy....between Ryu and Ken.
