Piggie cages need cleaning about once a week, sometimes a little more or a little less often depending on the number of cavies you have and the size of their cage. If you use newspaper underneath the bedding, you can roll most of it up and drop the bundle in the garbage. Those little dustpans and brooms you get at the dollar store work great to get the rest of the bedding out, then use an old rag and some vinegar to get rid of the pee spots. Wipe the excess vinegar off with a damp washcloth. (Be sure to rinse out the cloths you use for the vinegar before putting them in the laundry.) Then dump on your choice of bedding, and there you go! Your cage is ready for another week with your little bean-makers. |
