There comes a time for every living thing when it must give up its life here on earth with us and go on to a better place. This is a subject none of us like to dwell on so I will try to make it brief. We all want our guinea pigs to live as long as possible and die comfortably in their sleep, but sadly, all too often this is not the case. If you know that your guinea pig has something that is incurable and he is obviously suffering, sometimes the kindest thing is to bring them to a vet to have them painlessly euthanized. Usually this is done by putting them in a chamber with gasses that gently send them into a sleep during which they pass on. Often this is a very hard step for pet owners to take, because we love our pets so much. Sometimes the greatest love you can give is the willingness to let go when the time comes. They will let you know when that is. Until then, all you can do is make their last days as happy and comfortable as possible.
