| I will start out by letting everyone know that the Lightning bantam team is located in Wembley. The young athletes are from Wembley, Hythe and Beaverlodge. The Lightning's practice at the football field. The head coach this year is Lionel Robins. Lionel is a past president and couldn't wait to get back on the field. I will also mention that Lionel is the Vice President of Grande Prairie Minor Football Society. Chris Foster is still will us (I'am so pleased to say). Chris stepped down from head coach this year to assist Lionel. Happy to still have you with us Chris, keep us the good work. Chris's coaching experience really stands out, he started with coaching a girls hockey team for 2 years and then started with the West Country Lightning. Chris started helping with the Lightning's in 1999 and in 2001 he became the head coach. Plus, Chris was also involed with Beaverlodge Regional High School's football team. Chris was in charge of the defense and assistant coach for the special teams with the Royals. Chris has his football level one certification, and his First Aid with CPR. Hailey Foster will also be on the field with our young athletes. Hailey first started with the Lightnings during last year's bantam season. Hailey not only volunteer's with the West Country Lightning's, she has also volunteered in a large number of programs; * Beaverlodge Hospital * Beaverlodge Playground Foundation * Beaverlodge Elementary School * Red Willow Boys and Girls Camp Hailey has acheived alot at her young age with receiving a Award in Band in 1999, Athlete of the month in 1999, 'Coach's Award' for football in 1999, and a Proficiency Award at the Hythe Regional Junior High in 2000. Hailey has also made honors in 1997 - present, and going into grade 12, I'm sure Hailey's accomplishments are just beginning. Hailey also has her Football Level one certification. Way to go Hailey! It's nice to see a Lady out there on the field. |
