OLD-TIME MAGICIANS ON THE RADIO
Guys like Walt Noon are what make the Web a great place. Because of his diehard passion for magic, mentalism, and old-time radio shows, Noon created Magic Audio Archives, a free Web site where visitors can listen to vintage recordings of their favorite magicians of the past. After hearing an old recording of "Dunninger the Mentalist" late one night on A.M. radio, he was hooked. "I was so excited that I began an extensive (and often frustrating) search for radio recordings of magicians of the day," writes Noon on his Web site. "The search lasted over six months and required many dozens of letters and phone calls." But his efforts paid off, leading to a wonderful collection that includes the following recordings, several of which are available free at the Archives site:
As of this writing, the cost is $30.00 (including postage), and you get two CDs containing MP3 files, which can be read by your computer's standard audio programs, such as Windows Media Player or Real Player. By the way, I ordered them myself. Not only are they excellent as expected, but I received them only a few days after placing the order. And no, he didn't ask me to write this article. :o)
