Alexander was born in October 1751 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.. (58) He died on 10 October 1831 in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York, and is buried there (cemetery is unknown)... He married Zerviah (Zeruah) Rue RICE on 16 April 1778 in Brookfield... Alexander moved from his birthplace to Brookfield, Worcester County, early in life... It was during this period he united with the Presbyterian Church.

Alexander served 8 years and 5 months in the Revolutionary War, and received a pension of $20 per month (certificate #8143, issued 25 Mar 1819), and bounty land warrent #1607 (issued 14 Sep 1792), for 150 acres (believed in or around Broadalbin, NY)... He enlisted from Brookfield, 1 July 1775, in Capt. King's Company, Col. Brewer's 9th Massachusetts Regiment... He was age 27 and described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall, dark hair, dark eyes, and with a dark complexion... In 1776 he served under Capt. Harwoods's Company, Col. Shepard's Massachusetts Regiment, then in December 1777 he served as Quartermaster in Col. Baldwin's Artillery Regiment... In June 1779 he served as corporal and sergeant in Capt. Trotter's Company, Col. Putnam's 5th Massachusetts Regiment until it was consolidated with the 1st Massachusetts Regiment, then served as Ensign in Capt. Killam's Company under Col. Vose until his discharge in December 1783 at West Point, New York... He took part in the battles of Lexington and Trenton, was at Ticonderoga and the taking of General Bergoyne... His daughter Elizabeth's autobiography indicates her father became sick during one of his furloughs with "bilious fever, followed by fever and ague".

In about 1875, Alexander and Zerviah, along with three children, relocated from Brookfield, Massachusetts, to Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York... Alexander and Zerviah's daughter Elizabeth's autobiography indicates there were eleven children, five sons and six daughters; two daughters and a son born in Brookfield, Massachusetts, and the others in Broadalbin, New York... They arrived in Broadalbin before 1786 when their fourth child, Elizabeth, was born... Their first son died at age 6 and was the first to be buried in Broadalbin.

Zerviah (Zeruah) Rue RICE * (95b)

Zerviah was born on 14 December 1755 in Westborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts and died in August 1832 in Wilson, Niagara County, New York, and is was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Section D, Row 33.. (41) Her gravestone reads, "Zeruah, wife of Alexander Oliver, died Aug. 1832, in the 77 year of her age".

Zerviah (or Zeruah), is named in her husbands Revolutionary War pension file claim... In 1820, at age 65, she was living in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York... It is speculated that she moved to Wilson, New York, shortly after her husband died in 1831... Her daughter Elizabeth notes in her autobiogaphy that when her father, newly married, went off to the Revolutionary War, her mother went to reside with a sister who had also "bidden farewell to a husband"... It was during this absence that daughter Esther was born.

Alexander was born 19 November 1781 in Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts... He died on 13 November 1787 in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York, and was buried in the first grave in the Town of Broadalbin... His sister Elizabeth's autobiography indicated this fact.

iii.. Sophia OLIVER

Sophia was born on 6 December 1784 in Salem, Washington County, New York... It is speculated that her birth occured on the journey from Massachusetts to New York... She died 3 March 1860 in Wilson, Niagara County, New York, and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Section B, Row 12, as Sophia Whitney.. (41) She married Joseph WHITNEY on 22 December 1805; he died 5 January 1860 and is also buried in Sec. B, Row 12... He was a farmer, was a soldier in the war of 1812, and acted as a Lieutenant and quartermaster... The 1830 Federal Census lists the family living in Wilson, Niagara County.

iv... Elizabeth "Lizzie" OLIVER (58) (100)(101)

Elizabeth was born on 28 April 1786 in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York.. (58) She died on 13 September 1873 in Wilson, Niagara County, New York, and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Section D, Row 33 (a flat, ground level stone).. (41) Gravestone reads: "Elizabeth Oliver, Widow of Samuwl C. PETTIT, 3rd wife of Reuben Wilson, Born 1786 - Died 1873"... She was 87 years, 4 months, 17 days, old when she died... Elizabeth's first husband Samuel Pettit's wife had died leaving four children (the youngest was 10 months and the oldest 8 years when they married)... She came to Wilson in 1832 as a widow with her children and the children of Samuel Pettit; the same year her mother died... She penned an autobiography that indicates she had five brothers and six sisters... She also mentions that when she married Samuel, "His youngest son was then ten months old, and the oldest eight years, and the aged [Pettit] parents were to live with us during their life."

v.... Franklin OLIVER

Franklin was born on 5 October 1787 in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York... The year and place of his death is not known, however, he married Jerusha PAGE on 16 December 1810.

vi... Zerviah OLIVER

Zerviah was born on 19 April 1789 in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York... She died in 1866 in Perkins, Maine, at age 77... She married Jonathan S. TALLMAN on 19 April 1810 (he was born 30 June 1789 in Tiverton, Rhode Island.

Alexander was born on 15 July 1791 in Galway, Saratoga County, New York ... He died in 1854 in Wilson, Niagara County, New York, and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Section C, Row 15.. (41) ..
(this was the second child to be named Alexander, the first died in 1787) He married Mary BURROUGHS on 29 April 1816 in Wilson... She was born in 1796 and died in 1838 at age 42 in Wilson.

George was born on 25 June 1793 in Galway, Saratoga County, New York... He died on 5 March 1795 at age 1 year, 8 months and 10 days.

ix... Martha Patty OLIVER

Martha was born on 15 January 1797 in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York... The date and place of her death is not known... On 18 October 1815 she married Elijah ADAMs, the place is not known.

Edward was born on 23 April 1798 in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York... The date and place of his death is not known... On 9 November 1824 he married Amy BETTS, the place is not known.

Rebecca was born on 20 July 1801 in Broadalbin, Montgomery County, New York... She died in 1839, place unknown... On 22 September 1824 she married Andrew BETTS who was born in 1793 in Vermont and died in 1877.
