James marriage to Joan is recorded by the Perogative Court of Canterbury, 1587-1591, pg. 60, 10 May 1588.

James and Joan had 8 children: William; Thomas, chr.19 Aug 1563; George "Giles", chr.5 Sep 1566; Alice, chr.24 Dec 1572, m. John Hope, 21 Jun 1595;Edward, chr.10 May 1578; Keneline, cgr.16 Oct 1580; Richard, chr.16 Oct 1583; Robert, chr.18 Jul 1584. All childrn were christened in Tewkesbury Abbey Church.
