Guess you're itching to turn it on right???

OK. But be absolutely certain that you've got no shorts, solder splashes and other nasties (check the component orientations!)

Well, you can switch it on (check for smoke and get ready to turn it off if need be!)

Doesn't do a lot does it?

Turn it off.

You'll need some software now to configure the serial EEprom with the required setup info, as well as a MAC address (identity number) for the rest of the world to talk to your Ethernet port.

[A MAC address is the equivalent of an Ethernet Social Security Number. It's six hex digits - a lot of possible numbers (255x255x255x255x255x255= LOTS!) and you'll need to supply a number to configure the port - more in a bit]
