. . . . The Moon Hut Ritual . . . . . .
A woman's life is full of passages, turnings of the wheel that signify great and powerful changes. To honor and recognize the changes with a ritual is power-giving and fulfilling. All rituals must be significant to each individual, and what follows are ideas that can be used to create your own Luna Ritual. A young woman's coming of age is a time of honor, and a welcome into womanhood for a young girl. A time of celebration for her, girls who are good friends are the participants. The colors for this ritual are red and white. White for maidenhood, red to represent a woman's power. Decorate an altar in a tent, hut, or shed, with red and white candles, flowers, crystals and red stones. Spread a red cloth in the center of the circle for her to sit on. A garland of red flowers for her hair, and a Goddess necklace for her to wear. Gather and cast the circle, calling upon the Goddess that represents women's power. Luna, Goddess of the Moon.
One girl sits in the center of the circle in the place of honor. Another girl explains that all have gathered to welcome the maiden to the mysteries of womanhood and the moon hut. She places a garland of flowers on the girl's head speaking of how the red of the flowers represents the moon's power that flows monthly. She also speaks of the power inherent in womanhood, and how the girl is beginning her journey of gaining knowledge of that power. All the girls in the group remove their clothes. Taking a necklace of pearls, which represents the Goddess necklace, each woman in the circle holds it and gives a blessing and tells a secret of womanhood to the girl, lastly is the girl of honor who speaks of her experiences from infancy to present, and the bonds she has developed with other women. She then places the necklace round her neck. The other women in the group begin to pleasure her while the girl of honor tells each of the other women what their pleasure means to her. Once the girl of honor has been pleasured, she thanks the Goddess for her presence. Now is time for hugs and sharing of food and drink and selecting the next girl of honor so the ritual can begin again, just as women bring life and rebirth to the Earth in an endless cycle of love.

.... A Woman's World .....
In the Ancient World, young women had a place of strength where, once every moon, they enjoyed a retreat, a respite, a gathering and celebrating of power. During their moontime, the women gathered in the moon hut, for a communion of their spirits and to gather strength from the mytery of their womanhood. They shead their clothes and inhibitions, and pampered each other with soothing oils, shared dreams and thoughts, communed with the Goddess, and celebrated their life as women with other women.
