I have been involved
in student reenactments since 1996, and I have been organizing
student "companies" since 1997. Usually, I construct
most of the uniforms for my student groups myself. However, with
the help of individuals like Ms. Kelli O'Connell, I have started
sharing this responsibility with the schools I help.
This year, we fielded approximately 15 troops from Kenner under
the banner of the 17th, and many students were enthusiastic about
signing up. As a history teacher, it is very rewarding to see
these young adults take such an enthusiastic and dedicated role
in the learning of an under-appreciated subject.
