This Indenture made this eighteenth day of August One thousand eight hundred and forty one, Between James Hudgins of the County of Cumberland of the one part and John E. Minter of the said County of the other part: Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and seven dollars good and lawful money of Virginia to him the said James Hudgins in hand paid by the said John E. Minter the receipt of which he do hereby acknowledge hath granted and sold unto the said John Minter and his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract of parcel of land situated and being in the aforesaid county of Cumberland, containing fifty one and 3/4 acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows beginning at William Hudgins line thence on John Austin and others to the beginning. To have and to hold the above sold land with all and singular the appurtenances and priviledges thereunto belonging or in any wise appurtaining to the said John E. Minter his heris and assigns forever, and the said James Hudgins for himself his heirs and assigns doth hereby covenant to and agree with the said John E. Minter and to his heirs and assigns forever from the claim of all persons or any person whatsoever. In witness whereof the said James Hudgins hath hereunto set his hands and affixed his seal the day and date above.

Cumberland County to wit
We Ed S. Carrington and [blank] Justices of the peace in the county aforesaid and State of Virginia do hereby certify that James Hudgins a party to a certain deed bearing the date 18th August 1841, and hereunto annexed personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desire us to certify the said acknowledgment to the Clerk of the County of Cumberland in order that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals 24th August 1841.
