GOVERNOR OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY:
To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting:
KNOW YE, That by virtue and in consideration of a warrant from the Rockcastle
County Court, there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Joel Davis
a certain tract or parcel of Land, containing one hundred
Acres, by
survey, bearing date the Seventeenth
day of October one thousand eight hundred
and forty five
lying and being in the County of Rockcastleon the head waters
of Clear Creek adjoining a survey in the name of Isaac Davis and bounded as followeth to wit
Beginning at two white oaks black gum and dogwood and beech a corner to Isaac Davis 100 acres
thence N38East86 poles to a white oak thence N5West44 poles to a poplar and white oak in a hollow supposed to
be two hundred yards from William Goldens dwelling home thence N40East60 poles to a white
oak hickory and maple in a hollow near a bluff thence N30West 60 poles to a white oak and
sourwood on a bluff thence S51 West 136 poles to a double poplar another corner of said Davis
100 acres also corner to 50 acres in Isaac Davis name thence with a line of said Davis 100
acres S23 East156 poles to the Beginning
With its appurtienances: To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land, with its
appurtenances, to the said
Joel Davis
and his heirs forever.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, The said William Oswley Esq.
Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the seal
of the Commonwealth to be affixed, at Frankfort, on the Fourteenth day of
July in the year of our Lord, on thousand eight hundred
and forty six and of the Commonweath, the Fifty Fifth
