This Indenture made this eighteenth day of August One thousand eight hundred and forty one Between William D. Hudgins, James Hudgins, Isham Bradley and Catherine his wife formerly Hudgins, Smith Hudgins and his wife Samantha Hudgins, John Walton and his wife Jane, formerly Hudgins, John A. Hudgins, Robert Hudgins, and Lucy Hudgins of the county of Cumberland of the one part and John Minter of the said county of the other part Witnesseth that for and in the consideration of the three hundred dollars good and lawful money of Virginia to them the said William D. Hudgins, James Hudgins, Isham Bradley and Catherine his wife formerly Hudgins, Smith Hudgins and his wife Samantha Hudgins, John Walton and his wife Jane, formerly Hudgins, John A. Hudgins, Robert Hudgins, and Lucy Hudgins in hand paid by the said John E. Minter the receipt of which they do hereby acknowledge hath granted and sold unto the said John E. Minter and his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situated and being in the aforesaid county of Cumberland containing Seventy five acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows, Beginning at J.H. Davises line thence on William E. Carrington and others to the beginning. To have and to hold the above sold land with all and singular the appurtenances and priviledges thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to said John E. Minter his heirs and assigns forever and the said William D. Hudgins, James Hudgins, Isham Bradley and Catherine his wife formerly Hudgins, Smith Hudgins and his wife Samantha Hudgins, John Walton and his wife Jane, formerly Hudgins, John A. Hudgins, Robert Hudgins, and Lucy Hudgins for the same and their heirs and assigns doth hereby convenant and agree with the said John E. Minter to defend the right and title in fee simple unto the said John E. Minter and to his heirs and assigns forever from the claim of all persons or any person whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said William D. Hudgins, James Hudgins, Isham Bradley and Catherine his wife formerly Hudgins, Smith Hudgins and his wife Samantha Hudgins, John Walton and his wife Jane, formerly Hudgins, John A. Hudgins, Robert Hudgins, and Lucy Hudgins hath set their and affixed their seals the day and date above

Cumberland County to wit
We Ed S. Carrington and William R. Bradley Justices of the peace in the county aforesaid, in the State of Virginia, do hereby certify Samantha Hudgins, wife of Smith Hudgins, and Jane Walton wife of John Walton, parties to a certain deed having date 18th August 1841 and hereunto annexed, personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid, and being examined by us, privately and apart from their husbands and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to them, the the said Samanatha Hudgins and Jane Walton acknowledged the same to be their act and deed, and declared that they had willingly signed, sealed and delivered the same, and that they wished not to retract it. Given under our hands and seals 24 th August 1841

We Hez. Ford and Wm. B. Hobson Justices of the peace for said county and state of Virginia, do hereby, that Smith Hudgins, John Hudgins, and Robert Hudgins parties to a certain deed, bearing date 18th August 1841 and hereto annexed, personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid, and acknowledgments, to the Clerk of the county court of Cumberland, in order that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals the 26th day of August 1841
