This Indenture made this seventeenth day of September one thousand eight hundred and thirty five between William Hudgins and Mary Hudgins his wife of the county of Cumberland of the one part and William D. Hudgins of the said county of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and twenty five dollars good lawful money of Virginia to them the said William and Mary Hudgins his wife in hand paid by the said William D. Hudgins the receipt of which they do hereby acknowledge hath granted and sold unto the said William D. Hudgins and to his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situate and being in the aforesaid county of Cumberland containing fifty four acres be the same more of less and bounded as follows beginning at William Flippen line thence on James Hudgins line thence on Mrs. Judith Austins line to the beginning To have and to hold the above said land with all and singular appurtenances and priviledges thereunto belonging or on any wise for themselves their heirs and assigns doth hereby covenant to and agree with the said William D. Hudgins to defend the ___ and ___ in fee simple unto the said William D. Hudgins and unto his heirs and assigns forever from claim of all persons or any person whatsoever In witness whereof the said William Hudgins and Mary his wife hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the say and date above

We Hez Ford and Edward Walton Justices of the peace in the county aforesaid in the state of Virginia, do hereby certify that William Hudgins is party to a certain deed bearing the date the 17th day of Spetember 1835 and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desires us to certify the said acknowledgment to the clerk of the county courts of Cumberland in ___ that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our hand and seals this 27th day of September 1835
