Don't Give Up the Ship


She was only eight when she said
"Don't give up the ship"
to
Friends who came to say, "goodbye"
Friends who said, "We hate to see you go"
Friends who worked with us
Friends to whom Israel
Was the center of their existence,
Perhaps even the reason!
Friends for whom the word, "Jerusalem"
carried magic.
Friends who thought
We were so brave,
Such pioneers
To pack up and go.

It was then she stood up and said,
"Don't give up the ship"
And everyone clapped.
This eight year old had caught the spirit.
"Israel is our only solution," she said
"We must not give up the ship
This is our big chance.
The world has agreed that
The Children of Israel
Be able to return to their land.
To ignore such a moment?
Impossible"!

"Don't Give Up the Ship!"
Said eight year old, Peri

And everybody clapped
