Trauma

More important than all this however, is the military, political and psychological situation here with the fighting in Lebanon. It seems to me that there is "style" even in wars. The Vietnam reaction seems to be in vogue! But how can anyone compare the U.S. and Vietnam with Israel and the Terrorists? There is a lot of talk, especially by leftists but they are not saying anything more than "We are against killing" - Who isn't? I feel a lot safer knowing that the millions of dollars of ammunition that was hidden in Lebanon is in our hands, that Arafat is on the run, that we did prove able to resist those irresistible weapons! Some people say, "Well, it will only make us more enemies and the next generation of Palestinians will hate us even more."

But who can know what the future has in store for us? We have to do what we can do now. They were armed to the teeth and they have been disarmed! How much peace it will give us? Who can know! Nobody knows what's still in store for us but, at least for the moment the streets of North Tel Aviv are free.

I went to a demonstration the other day in favor of government policy and they had a Lebanese speaker. He said, "You know, I cannot understand why all of a sudden the Lebanese are so important to the world. What were they doing all these seven years?" Of course, he was a Christian.

The Jews always felt that Hitler could have been wiped out much quicker, the camps could have been bombed and opened up, that supply trains should have been destroyed and all kinds of other strategies could have been employed. Jewish lives could have been saved! Some people say, "The Jews are suffering from a trauma!. We sure do! What's wrong with a trauma when 6,000,000 of your people have been annihilated and but for the accident of where I was born, I would have been one of them, too. Trauma?? I'd be ashamed not to have one! And stupid!
It's not only a Hitler "final solution" made trauma!
It's a Jerusalem siege trauma, a Latrun trauma, a Yamit trauma and a "push them into the seas" trauma and now a Russian, Arafat unholy, triangular trauma. No! we had better not forget our traumas. We'll turn our traumas into warnings and prepare properly!
