The news about Ben Gurion's triumphal march across the U.S.A. reaches us from many sources. To get down to old U.J.A. talk - How much more money was he able to raise this year than last. I understand there is a lot of friction between the bond drive and the U.J.A. It's too bad since really the two efforts do not have to conflict since one is purely a charity idea to help thousands of people with homes and trades and the other is an investment for the country in its business. I suppose many people are not convinced that Israel is anything but a charity no matter what happens. Years of such training cannot be overturned in an instant!
We also just got a package containing almonds and walnuts and canned meat, kosher for Pessach. There was also some pecan butter, cashew butter and olive butter, all delightful nibblings. In one of my last letters I mentioned that the frozen meat came through very well and is most welcome.
The newspapers here are full of Herman although it seems it is much more interesting for them to write up things heard, and rumors, rather than checking with the person involved. In this way Fritz heard in Stockholm that Herm had bolted the Mizrachi and had joined the General Zionists. What nonsense newspapers can write!
