I give the same spelling homework each week, and I listed the day of the week next to each assignment here, so you will know what will be assigned on what night.
ABC
Order (Monday) - put your spelling words (not sentences!) in alphabetical
order.
Example: act
dog
hat
hot
pin
sat
If your child is struggling with ABC order, put each letter of the alphabet on the side of the paper like this:
A
B
C
D
E, etc.
Start with the first letter, go through the spelling list to see if any
spelling words start with that letter. If any do, write them first.
If not, cross off that letter and go to the next letter (B). Continue
doing this until you get to the bottom of the alphabet. Remember,
if any words start with the same letter, go to the second letter and put
the second letters in ABC order.
3X
Each (Tuesday) - write each of your spelling words 3 times. Please
do this neatly, going across the paper. Skip lines!
Example: 1. hop hop hop
2. fox fox fox
Rainbow
Words (Wednesday)- choose 3 different colored crayons (I'll use green,
purple, and pink for my example). Write each word in one color (green).
Trace over each word using the second crayon (purple). Trace over
each word using the third crayon (pink). I scanned an example of
what Rainbow Words should look like. You don't have to squeeze your
words in between the lines, it's pretty hard with crayons! Please
take as much room as you need. Write them big enough so that I can
read all of the letters!
Example:
RAINBOW
