ight Words

Make the word "night" on a large piece of black paper, and write words that are spelled the same under it.  Call it the "ight" words and whenever you use one in class refer to the paper, which is constantly hanging in your room.

I do this with "ow" words by making a brown cow and painting words that sound the same on the cow's body.  I call them "cow" words.

I also have an owl in my room with the word "who" on his head.   We name him WHO the Owl.  On his stomach I have painted "what, when, where, why, and which" in different colors.  When we get to the word "who"  I say, that's the name of the owl.  When we write questions, we look at the owl for some good starter question words.
