Stene in Kumla parish:
First mentioned 1415; Harald in Stene. Named Sten 1515,Steene 1680 and
Stene 1715
The name is undoubtly the forrnordic name for Sten (rock). The name
says also something about where the original position of the houses was.
It was probably next to a large rock. Information shows that at the
old Stene village once upon a time was a large rock called the 'giant-rock'.
The rock was blown inte pieces in the middle of 1800 and used as foundation
for an shed,
owned by shoe-merchant Carl Persson in Stene.
This
is Stene # 5 , ab. 1885
Some more facts : this farm was 10 hectar or 20 'tunnland' and
in the records it says 1/4 dels mantal.
It supported 11 persons - 9 kids and 3 adults. My grandma was
one of the kids born here in 1896
Her father moved in after his uncle, so it have at least been in the
family in 4 generations and churchrecords
says same place since 1718 so possibly in 7 generations. (A
new bigger house was built beside this in 1910)
Järsjö in Kumla parish: ( nowheredays divided in Norra Järsjö and Södra Järsjö )
First mentioned 1442; Bengtsson in Iärrizlöö. Named Jerrise
1542, Jedersio 1560.
Järsiöö 1573 and järsjö 1880.
The names origin is very uncertain. Some good reasons is speaking for
that the name in younger fornnordic time had the form "Iärlsö",
which in turns can go back to an older "Iärlshögh".
The beginning of the word can be from "Iärl", Jarl. A Jarl was
the Kings highest official with military authoritys.
The end of the name is not from sjö (lake), but more likely from
hög (high, Hill).
Järsjö could therefore be meaning: "jarlens hög" (the
jarls hill).
This is Järsjö # 1 , (Today called 'Sörgården')
this farm was 1/4 dels mantal , main house in the middle from latest 1830
left house built 1908
the farm was 17 hectar fields + some forest. Family have lived in this
village since 1712
When My grandma's grandfather got old he retired and moved from Stene to 'Lilla Joglunda' in Hardemo parish . The year was 1883
