Misc.
unsorted persons with the name Grafström
The name Grafström is taken from the village Gräfta in
medelpad
Some books claim that Anders G.(1702-1764) was the first who took
the name Grafström (See
table-2)
And personally the first written proof I have seen of the
Grafström name is in the Säbrå parish birth record
C:1 / Svar : 61402 micro card 1 (Row11Col3Left)
when the child Margareta is born 30 Jan. 1727, father is Olof
Abramsson Grafström
Among those who also took the name was his two brothers Abram
and Olof who also lived in Gräfta.
They changed the name from Abramsson to Grafström. The brother
Olof moved to the village Helgum in Säbrå perish. (close to the
town Härnösand in Ångermanland county)
And the other brother stayed at home and inherited his fathers
farm.
The name Abraham is commonly also used in the family from
generation to generation until those days.
And it is mentioned so far back as 1400 about the 'farmer Abram
in Gräftha.

3. Olof Abramsson Grafström, b. 11/11 1695 in Gräfte, Stöde parish, d. 16/9 1771 in Helgum, Säbrå parish
The farmer, Olof Abramson Grafström,
b.1695 in Gräfte, Stöde sn. 1719 first time with Cherstin
Jonsdotter Bure. b. 1697 , d. 9/12 1733
And with this marriage connected to the family of
distinguished heritage Bure, where also 'Stor-Mor in Dalom'
(Big-Mother in Dalarna county) came from. Probably by
connections, as the komminister Per Hogzelius and his wife;
Catarina Grå in Stöde had, Olof came as young to Härnösand.
He seems to have pursued a rather successful Business in
Härnösand and was granted as a burgher in 1719, the same year
as he was married the first time. If he at this moment acquired
the Helgum farm is not known. In 1721 The Russians attacked
Sweden and burned down several towns, the farm in Helgum was not
spared. The family fled to Stockholm And returned when things had
calmed down, the farm was rebuilt and the family probably moved
in 1727. Olof Abramsson Grafström is calling back his burgher
ship in the city at that time. During this period some of the
younger children became foster kids in the town Sundsvall.
Earlier the same year Olof inherited by the dean widow Madame
Elisabeth Lund, 7 seland land, where 1/4 seland was on
Lung-island and an old barn in Säbrå worth 850 daler
k:mt. Wife Stina Jonsdotter had earlier , half by
inhertage.
Olofs wife Cherstin Jonsdotter Bure died in child
bed 9/12 1733 after giving birth to triplets.
( noted in Birth book are those Quotes from the Holy Bible :
Jeremia 20:18 , Job 3:11 , Job 10:18 )
In 1734 Olof is remarried with the farmers daughter Cherstin
Pehrsdotter from Lindom in Häggdångers sn. b. 1717, d. 8/2
