Q. There has been some disagreement among friends about the correct punctuation of the following phrases:

Mr. Richard A. Jones Jr. and Mrs. Rachel Jones
Mr. Richard A. Jones III and Mrs. Rachel Jones

A. These names and titles are punctuated correctly. However, if Richard Jones Jr. wants to separate the Jr. from the rest of the name with commas, that is acceptable also. If we know that he has that preference, then we should follow his preference.
