Microsoft Word is telling me that "or" should replace "nor" in this instance. But I don't think the program is always correct in its suggestions. However, if "or" is the correct word, what is the reason?
A. You're right not to trust the grammar check on Microsoft Word; however, the grammar check is correct in this instance. Your sentence is in effect a double negative. Unless it is used with neither , nor should not be used in the same clause with another negative.
