The Grammar Doctor

Q. I work for a newspaper - admittedly not a likely bastion of grammar - we are constantly delivered writeups for social engagements such as showers and weddings in which brides wear "long sleeve gowns" and drink "ice tea". When I was in school, I was taught that this would be a long-sleeved gown and iced tea. Has that changed? In editing these stories I add the "ed" to the words in question.

A. You are right to add "ed" to those words. The rules haven't changed.
