Q.
I don't know the difference between object and the predicate of a
sentence.
I always thought the noun was the subject, the verb the predicate and
anything beyond that was the object.
I've been told differently. Can you enlighten me?
A.
The predicate is the verb and anything that comes after the verb. A direct object, for example, can be part of the predicate, and so can a predicate noun.
