Q. Today my Philosophy
teacher put this question on our test:
I love someone _____, you.
I like all my classes _____, Ethics.
I am risible _____, capable of laughter.
We had to fill in the blank using each of these:
e.g.
i.e.
vis.
I was wondering what your answer to this would be. I put vis., i.e., e.g. (in
that order).
A. I would agree with you about vis. in the first sentence. However, I don't think i.e. fits in the second. (i.e., as I'm sure you know, is Latin for id est, that is) E.g. would be better there. (exempli gratia, for example). I would put i.e. in the last sentence.
