Life
It is true
I am guilty of ignoring completly
That much explored literary universe
A woman's lot
(or bitter still, the lot of a woman in america)
In my defense I can only say
The one life I've lived so far is mine
Now look here
What do I know of feminism
Sexism,or gender wars
Bad marriage,discrimintation
Of chauvinism and mens double standards
Of deep scars left by callous lovers
What insight can I offer into ungrateful children
Unfeeling,or else alcoholic fathers
Favoured and exploitative brothers
Sagging breasts,the curse of menstration
Lack of orgasm,frigidity,frustration
The way I see it,breasts sag
Veins pop,lovers leave
We grow,grow old
Have and be had
Scars heal,if we can only let go
These are our lives, and each of us must speak
Of those things which our hearts desire to know
For myself,I have been made a man
By a very personal love
And love is the only voice I own.
