| There persists in my family a story that my great-grandfather was from a very wealthy family but that he was disinherited when he decided to run off with their maid. Joseph was a cousin of Lady Sarah Jennings Churchill. That is about all I know about his early life. That plus the fact that he was born in England and immigrated to Canada and later to Ohio. The rest of his story remains shrouded in mystery. He and Elizabeth settled in Summit County and raised their eight children. Most of the family is buried at the historic Glendale Cemetery in downtown Akron. |
