Mrs. A. W. Carmichael
Almira Morgan, daughter of Thomas and Mary Ann Morgan, was born on a
farm one mile north of Webster on January 14, 1860 and passed away at
her home in Webster on November 28, 1944 at the age of 84 years and,
10 months, and 14 days.
She was united in marriage on May 5, 1878 with A. W. Carmichael. They
lived together on a farm near Webster until January 8, 1919 when they
moved to their home in town. To this union four children were born.
They are, Curtie, who died in infancy; Mrs. Frank Funk, who passed
away July 23, 1938; Mrs. John Roby, who passed away February 22, 1944;
and Iva who resides at home.
Mrs. Carmichael was a member of the Methodist church for many years.
She was a good neighbor, a gracious friend, and one who was ever ready
to extend a kindness to someone in need. She was a great lover of home
and found great delight in the care of her garden and flowers.
Besides her aged companion and her daughter Iva, she is survived by
one brother, T. A. Morgan of Long Beach, Ca. Many other loved ones and
friends will also mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held from the Webster Methodist church on Friday
afternoon, December 1, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Pastor, the Rev.
E. L. Pullman. Music for the service was furnished by a mixed quartet
including, Mrs. E. E. Starry, Mrs. Orvil Heaton, Earnest Sturdevant,
and John Rugg, with Miss Margaret Herrick at the piano. they sang,
"Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "Going down the Valley". Mrs. Starry
also sang very beautifully the specially requested solo, "Welcome for
Me". Burial was in the Sorden cemetery.

Iva M. Carmichael
Miss Iva M. Carmichael, aged 66 years, died at her home in Webster on
Monday afternoon at 5:15 o'clock, following a lingering illness.
She was born at Webster on December 19, 1878 and was a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. A. W. Carmichael. She spent her entire life in the Webster
community. She is survived by her aged father, her mother and two
sisters having preceded her in death.
The funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at the Webster
Methodist church of which she was a member, conducted by the Rev. E.
L. Pullman of Keswick. Burial was in the Sorden Cemetery.

Mrs. John N. Roby
Verna Carmichael Roby, youngest daughter of A. W. and Myra Morgan
Carmichael, was born April 20, 1885 on the farm a mile north of
Webster, where she continued to live until her death.
She attended the Lincoln school a mile from her home and later was
secretary of the district until it was consolidated with the Webster
school.
On March 26, 1913 she was united in marriage to John N. Roby.
She was a great lover of flowers and garden and all things pertaining
to her home life. When any one called at the home they always
received a pleasant greeting and she was noted for the good dinners
she prepared for threshers. She was deeply interested in the welfare
and happiness of her husband, father, mother, and sister.
The loss of her sister Nellie was a great shock to and she made many
trips to the cemetery to place flowers on her grave. Her last illness
was long and she suffered greatly but she was always patient and
cheerful and would not leave her father's home and the loving care of
her husband and sister, Iva.
She passed away February 22, 1944, leaving to mourn her husband John
Roby; her father and mother and one sister, Iva.
Preceding her in death were an infant brother and one sister, Mrs.
Nellie Funk.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at two o'clock
Friday afternoon, February 25, conducted by the Rev. R. L. Brown, of
Keota, Interment was made in Sorden Cemetery.

Nellie Ann Funk
Nellie Ann Funk, one of three daughters of A. W. and Carmichael, she
was born on the farm one mile north of Webster, Iowa, July 23, 1882
and died an Saint Lukes hospital in Spokane, Washington, July 23,
1938. Her passing occurred on her birthday. She was exactly 56 years
old.
While she was a girl she took a lively interest in life and
participated in all the affairs of the community which appealed to an
active mind, and healthy body inspired by worthy ideals. She never
lost this wholesome interest in life and kept herself well informed on
the affairs of a changing, interesting world.
For a number of years she was the organist for the Methodist Sunday
school at Webster. After graduating from the Sigourney high school in
1902, she taught in the rural schools of Keokuk county for a year.
On October 28, 1903 she was united in marriage to Frank F. Funk, whose
home at the time was in Grand Forks, North Dakota. After their
marriage they made their home in Grand Forks for a year. They then
moved to Chicago where they lived for five years after which they
moved to Spokane, Washington where they made their home until her
untimely passing.
She was a kind, thoughtful and unselfish nature, always considering
the wishes and feelings of others in preference to her own. She is
survived by her husband Frank F. Funk, Spokane, Washington; her aged
parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Carmichael and two sisters, Miss Iva
Carmichael and Mrs. Verna Roby all of Webster. One baby brother
preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church at
Webster Friday afternoon, July 29 at 2 o'clock, conducted by the rev.
R. L. Brown. Interment was made in Sorden cemetery.
