Mrs Jesse Boysen
                                            
  Mrs. Mary Boysen, 75, formerly of Charlotte, died Sunday in Sioux Falls, 
  South Dakota,  where she  had made  her home  for many  years. Funeral  
  services will be held at 10:a.m.  Wednesday in Sacred Heart Cathedral,  
  Sioux Falls.
  
  Mrs. Boysen  was  the former  Mary  Shannon, daughter  of  Michael and  
  Margaret McClimon Shannon, and was born in Washington township. She was
  married to Jess Boysen who preceded her in death.
  
  She is  survived by  six sons  and one  daughter, 24  grandchildren and  
  several great grandchildren. two children preceded her in death.
  
  Surviving are two brothers and one  sister; John Shannon of Davenport,  
  Leonard Shannon and Mrs. Clarence (Alberta) Smith, both of Clinton.

  Relatives here received word  of the death of  Jess Boysen, 70, former  
  Clinton county resident,  who died early  yesterday in  a Sioux Falls,  
  South Dakota hospital after a long illness.
  
  He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Shannon of Villa Nova, seven 
  sons and one daughter, all  of South Dakota; also  a sister, Mrs. Carl  
  (Dora) Neuman of Florida and a brother, Martin Boysen of Delmar. 
  
  Mrs. Neuman, in company with Mrs. Clarence  Smith of Clinton left here 
  Tuesday for Sioux Falls. Others who will attend the funeral are Mr. and 
  Mrs. Leonard Shannon of Clinton and John Shannon of Davenport.

                              Edward Shannon
                                            
  Edward Shannon, 606 Seventh Avenue, South, passed away at Mercy hospital 
  last evening at 11:45 o'clock following an  operation. He had been ill 
  the past week and was removed to the hospital Sunday, and was operated  
  on August 20.
  
  The funeral will be  held Monday morning. Burial  will be in Charlotte  
  cemetery.
  
  Edward Shannon was born in Charlotte August 16, 1893 and was 36 years of 
  age at the time of his demise. He had resided in Charlotte until three 
  months ago,  when with  his  family they  took  up their  residence in  
  Clinton.
  
  Mr. Shannon  was married  to Miss  Marie Gohlmann  on April  25, 1916.  
  Besides his wife, he  is survived by  four children, Geraldine, Leola,  
  Donald and  Madonna;  his  parents,  Mr. and  Mrs.  M.  N.  Shannon of  
  Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Jess (Mary) Boysen of Zell, South Dakota,  
  Miss. Alberta Shannon of Charlotte, and two brothers, John and Leonard  
  of Charlotte.

                           Mrs Marie Erpelding
                                            
  Mrs. Marie D. Erpelding,  74, formerly of De  Witt and Charlotte, died  
  today in The Alverno, Clinton,  where she has resided  for a number of  
  years.
  
  The funeral will  be 10 a.m.  Thursday in  Assumption Catholic church,  
  Charlotte. The Rev. Alphonse Wagner will officiate and burial will be in 
  the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hanrahan 
  Funeral Home, De Witt, where the parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
  
  Mrs. Erpelding was born November 6, 1894  at Charlotte to Theodore and 
  Elizabeth Burke  Gohlmann.  She  married Edward  Shannon  in  1916, in  
  Charlotte. He died in  1929. She married William  Erpelding in 1940 in  
  Clinton. He died in 1962. Survivors include a son, Donald E. Shannon of 
  Worthington, Minn.,  three daughters,  Mrs.  Eugene (Madonna)  Wing of  
  Worthington, Minn., Mrs. Don  (Leola) Sleeper, Albert  Lea, Minn., and  
  Mrs. S. F. (Geraldine) Rebelsky of Clinton; 15 grandchildren; 24 great  
  grandchildren and a brother Artemis J. Gohlmann of Kansas City, Mo.

                              John J. Shannon
                                            
  John J. Shannon, 75, of 333 W. Columbia St. Davenport, and formerly of  
  Charlotte, died  at 3  a.m. Friday  in  Davenport Mercy  Hospital. The  
  requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Assumption Catholic 
  church, Charlotte, with the Rev. Francis E. Marlin officiating. burial 
  in Assumption cemetery.
  
  Friends may call  after 7:00 p.m.  today in Hanrahan  Funeral Home, De  
  Witt. The parish rosary will be recited there at 8 p.m. Sunday.
  
  Mr. Shannon was born September 26, 1890 in Washington township, Clinton 
  county to Michael  and Margaret  McClimon Shannon.  He married Frances  
  O'Toole February  6,  1917  in Charlotte.  The  couple  farmed  in the  
  Charlotte community until retiring 26 years ago to Davenport. 
  
  Surviving are two sons, Norbert of Long Grove and Virgil of Davenport; 
  three daughter,  Mrs.  Jesse  (Mary)  Long  and  Mrs  John  (Collette)  
  Ripslinger of Davenport and Mrs. Harold (Carmella) Summers of Treasure 
  Island, Florida.; 20 grandchildren; a brother, Leonard of Clinton; and a 
  sister, Mrs. Clarence Smith of Clinton. Mrs. Shannon died in 1964.

  Mrs. John  J. Shannon,  71, of  333 W.  Columbia, Davenport,  a former  
  resident of this area, died about 4:30  a.m. Sunday in Mercy hospital, 
  Davenport.
  
  Funeral services will  be held  at 9:30  a.m. Wednesday  in Assumption  
  church. at Charlotte with the Rev. Bernard Brugman officiating. burial 
  will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Hanrahan Funeral Home 
  in De Witt, where  friends may call  after 7:00 p.m.  this Monday. The  
  parish rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
  
  Frances O'Toole was born March 9, 1893 in Washington township, Clinton  
  county to James and Mary Burke O'Toole. She was married to John Shannon 
  February 6, 1917 at Charlotte. For the last 25 years they have lived in 
  Davenport.
  
  Surviving are her husband; two sons, Norbert of Long Grove and Virgil of 
  Davenport; three  daughters, Mrs.  Jessie  (Mary) Long  and  Mrs. John  
  (Collette) Ripslinger of Davenport and Mrs. Harold (Carmilla) Summers of 
  St. Petersburg, Florida;  19 grandchildren; two  brothers, Charles and  
  Lawrence O'Toole, both  of Clinton,  and five  sisters; Mrs. Geneveive  
  McDonald, Clinton, Mrs. Francis Bathalter and Mrs. Earl Hynes, both of  
  De Witt and Mrs. Leo Ryan and Mrs. Leo Gannon, both of Delmar.

                             Clarence W. Smith
                                            
  Clarence W. Smith was born November 11, 1901 in De Witt, Iowa, the son 
  of William F. and Matilda Oesterbury Smith. He died September 26, 1978 
  in Clinton.
  
  He married Alberta L. Shannon on September 23, 1929 at Villa Nova, Iowa. 
  He retired from Meade Transfer Co. in  1966. He was a member of Sacred  
  Heart church and St. Edward's K. of  C. Council 707, Clinton, Iowa. He  
  was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus.
  
  Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Thursday, September 28, 1978 at 
  10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart church with  Rev. E. J. Weeg officiating. A  
  prayer service  will precede  the mass  at 10:00  a.m. at  the Schmitz  
  Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton.
  
  Survivors include his wife; three  brothers, Harry, Leslie, and Harold  
  and one sister, Mrs. Olaf (Mamie) Carlson.
  
  Casket bearers will  be Darrell  Smith, James  Boysen, Ronald Mueller,  
  Edward Shannon, Leo P. Mullen and Donald Shannon.
