The Durrow parish, Co. Queens, Ireland marriage record names
Elizabeth ``Betty Reade'' with an address of Ballinalough.
I haven't yet found any place nearby called Ballinalough, and it
seems possible that it is a misspelling of Ballinaclogh, one of
the townlands associated with the Lawlor family.
However, the fact that they were married in Durrow suggests that
is where the Reed family might be from originally.
Ballinaclogh is relatively (about 10 miles) far from Durrow and
not within the Durrow parish borders.
The Durrow parish birth/baptism registers do go back far enough
to potentially include the births of Elizabeth and her siblings if
anyone has some money to spend to investigate that possibility.
The first two children of Pat Lawlor and Elizabeth Reed were
baptized in Abbeyleix parish. The town of Abbeyleix is roughly
halfway between Ballinaclogh/Timahoe and Durrow. But from the
maps, it looks possible that just a mile or two west
of Ballinaclogh would be within the Abbeyleix parish.
Elizabeth's name is given as Mary Reed in the death record of
her daughter Margaret Alice (Lawler) Fitzgerald.
